A few fun and little-known FAQs about Early Morning Cemetery:
Q: Where did you get the idea for the story?
A: I knew when I started the manuscript for Early Morning Cemetery that Kevin would be falsely accused of something significant, but I didn’t know what. The story explores how Kevin deals with the untruths people believe about him, because there are times in life when we can’t control our circumstances, but we can control how we react to those circumstances.
Q: What’s up with Lima Bean?
A: Don’t you think it’s about time Kevin had a pet? In fact, as I was working on the book a reader wrote to me and asked when Kevin would get a pet. She recommended Kevin get an iguana. I had already written in Lima Bean, though, and I thought he’d make a good nemesis for Ruby.
Q: How do you know so much about roofing a house?
A: My husband and son re-roofed our house a few years ago. It is hard, hard work! We’ve always been do-it-yourselfers when it comes to home repair and remodeling. But I have to admit, my role in the roofing project was limited to picking up shingles, rolling a magnet across the lawn to pick up roofing nails, and fixing lunch for whomever was up on the roof!
